Bad News for iPhone 18: Launch Strategy Changed

Ana sayfa / News

Every autumn, the tech world’s heart beats for Apple’s massive launch events. For years, the September ritual involved the standard and “Pro” iPhone models sharing the same stage. However, the latest leaks from the supply chain indicate a disruptive roadmap for 2026 and 2027.

Recent analyses from reliable leakers Sonny Dickson and Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman confirm that Apple is shifting its product launch strategy. It appears the company has decided to split the stage to accommodate the highly anticipated foldable model, the “iPhone Fold.”

Standard iPhone 18 Models Delayed to 2027

According to the leaked calendar, Apple’s September 2026 event will focus exclusively on premium, high-end devices. This stage will feature the iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max, and Apple’s first-ever foldable smartphone, the iPhone Fold.

Users looking for standard or budget-friendly models will have to wait. The basic iPhone 18, the affordable iPhone 18e, and the ultra-slim iPhone Air 2 are scheduled for a spring event in March 2027. This delay is reportedly caused by global bottlenecks in AI-focused RAM procurement and Apple’s focus on the complex production line required for the foldable model.

The Foldable iPhone: Will It Be Worth the Wait?

The iPhone Fold is expected to be the star of the September 2026 event. Leaked CAD designs show a device with a unique “passport-style” form factor when folded. When opened, it transforms into an 8.0-inch display, effectively becoming an iPad mini. Apple has reportedly reduced the screen crease depth to below 0.15mm, making it nearly invisible.

The Stars of Spring 2027: iPhone 18e and Air 2

The March 2027 lineup will cater to every budget. While the iPhone 18e targets entry-level ecosystem users, the iPhone Air 2 will redefine the philosophy of “thinness.” Built on a 2nm fabrication process, the Air 2 aims to provide a massive leap in battery life despite its ultra-slim design.
